Connect a domain and verify DNS

Understand plan eligibility, registration and the checks needed before your address works.

Before you connect a domain

Custom-domain connections are included in Launch, Studio and Max when the domain service is enabled; Free does not include them. You need a domain you control. Domain registration is a separate purchase, and an eligible plan alone does not activate a hostname or publish your site.

Add the exact DNS records shown

In Sites, open the website and choose Domains. Use the option to connect an existing domain and enter the hostname without a path. Copy the displayed record type, name and value into the DNS settings at your domain provider. Use the records for this site; do not copy an address from an unrelated guide.

  1. Keep a copy of existing records before editing DNS, especially records used by email.
  2. Save the required records at your provider, then return and choose Check DNS.
  3. Wait for an active status and publish the site before checking its public address.

If a domain stays pending

Check the hostname, DNS provider and every displayed value. Changes can take time to propagate; no fixed activation time is guaranteed. A domain marked active can still show no site if the site is unpublished. If service or purchase is unavailable, use the available published link and contact support with the hostname and visible error.
