Set up verification and troubleshoot account access

Enable SMS protection, handle missing codes and use the recovery options actually available.

Enable SMS two-step verification

In Account, open Sign-in & security and choose Set up beside SMS two-step verification when available. Confirm a verified email first, then verify the phone with the code sent to it. Follow any identity recheck requested before the number is enabled as a second factor. Saving a contact number is not the same as enabling this protection.

When a code does not arrive

Check the destination and country code. For email, check spam and filtering; for SMS, check reception and whether the number can receive messages. Wait for the resend countdown, request a new code once and use the latest code. Availability may depend on the phone country and service settings. Repeated requests can be limited.

If you cannot complete sign-in

If shown for your enrolled account, use an authenticator code or an unused backup code instead of SMS. Google sign-in is only an alternative when it is already connected to the same account; it does not bypass required verification. The current Twelva sign-in form does not offer self-service password-reset email. Contact support if you cannot use the offered methods.
